Lily is a young, affectionate, and super-loyal girl who adores people of all ages and sizes. She’s currently in foster care and has been making fantastic progress. Her foster family describe her as a loving, eager-to-please companion who quickly forms strong bonds with her humans.
💛 A Gentle Soul
Lily came to us from the pound in poor condition — underweight, with wounds on her legs and no history — but she’s bounced back beautifully. In her foster home, it was immediately clear she’d lived in a house before. She’s relaxed, polite, house-trained, and understands personal space surprisingly well for a larger dog. (Yes, she’ll sneak onto the sofa — but she gets off when asked!)
At night, she settles down quickly and sleeps peacefully, helped in part by a few trial day visits to her foster home which made the transition easier.
🐾 Walks, Training & Socialising
She walks very nicely on the lead and is attentive to her handler. As a young, athletic dog, Lily would thrive in an active home — we think she’d make a great running partner!
Her foster family have also been working hard on her training — and it shows. Lily’s recall on a whistle is brilliant, and she’s highly food-motivated and quick to learn. She loves squeaky balls, tug-of-war, and fetch — but be warned, soft toys don’t last long with her!
While she’s doing well, Lily is still a young dog at heart. She can get overexcited and needs a home where she’ll receive clear, consistent boundaries. She thrives when she knows what’s expected of her and responds well to calm leadership.
🐶 Other Dogs
Lily has shown reactivity around other dogs, but this is improving significantly. She’s now had multiple positive, on-lead interactions with calm, friendly dogs. Her foster family are using reward-based techniques like the “engage/disengage” game, and it’s going really well. Continued gentle socialisation and positive reinforcement will be key to her long-term success.
We believe Lily may be able to live with a calm, older dog following careful introductions. However, she cannot live with cats or small furries.
🚗 Travel
She wears a car harness without fuss and has been on lots of short trips. She’s still getting used to car travel, but the motion sickness is easing — she’s even taken the odd nap on the move!
🏡 The Home She Needs
Lily would thrive in an active home with:
- A confident, experienced owner
- Ongoing training and enrichment
- Plenty of love and time
- No cats or small animals
- Possibly a calm, older dog companion
- Someone home most of the day — she doesn’t show separation anxiety, but she’s not a dog who wants to be left for long periods
We’re especially keen to get Lily into her forever home soon. Her foster family will be away for an extended period later this year, and we’d love to avoid her returning to kennels, which caused her a great deal of stress in the past.
If you’re looking for a bright, affectionate, and loyal companion, Lily could be the perfect match. In return for your guidance and love, she’ll give you her whole heart — and then some.
