Lily is a young, affectionate, and super-loyal girl who adores people of all ages and sizes. She’s currently in foster care and has been making fantastic progress. Her foster family describe her as a loving, eager-to-please companion who quickly forms strong bonds with her humans.
💛 A Gentle Soul
Lily came to us from the pound in poor condition — underweight, with wounds on her legs and no history — but she’s bounced back beautifully. In her foster home, it was immediately clear she’d lived in a house before. She’s relaxed, polite, house-trained, and understands personal space surprisingly well for a larger dog. (Yes, she’ll sneak onto the sofa — but she gets off when asked!)
At night, she settles down quickly and sleeps peacefully.
🐾 Walks, Training & Socialising
She walks very nicely on the lead and is attentive to her handler. As a young, athletic dog, Lily would thrive in an active home — we think she’d make a great running partner!
Her foster family have also been working hard on her training — and it shows. Lily’s recall on a whistle is brilliant, and she’s highly food-motivated and quick to learn. She loves squeaky balls, tug-of-war, and fetch — but be warned, soft toys don’t last long with her!
While she’s doing well, Lily is still a young dog at heart. She can get overexcited and needs a home where she’ll receive clear, consistent boundaries. She thrives when she knows what’s expected of her and responds well to calm, clear leadership.
🐶 Other Dogs & Animals
Lily was very reactive to dogs in the kennels, but this is improving in her foster home. She’s now had multiple positive, on-lead interactions with calm, friendly dogs. Her foster family are using reward-based techniques like the “engage/disengage” game, and it’s going really well. Continued gentle socialisation, patience and positive reinforcement will be key to her long-term success.
We believe Lily may be able to live with a calm, confident and non-reactive dog following careful introductions. However, she cannot live with cats or small furries due to her high prey drive.
🚗 Travel
She wears a car harness without fuss and has been on lots of short trips. She’s still getting used to car travel, but the anxiety and sickness is easing — she’s even taken the odd nap on the move!
🏡 The Home She Needs
Lily would thrive in an active home with:
- A confident, experienced owner
- Ongoing training and enrichment
- Plenty of love and time
- No cats or small animals
- Possibly a calm, confident dog companion
- Someone home most of the day — she doesn’t show separation anxiety, but she’s not a dog who wants to be left for long periods
If you’re looking for a bright, affectionate, and loyal companion, Lily could be the perfect match. In return for your guidance and love, she’ll give you her whole heart — and then some.
