Lily

Breed: Crossbreed
Age: Approx 2 yrs
Sex: Female

Lily is likely a Lurcher x Doberman and absolutely adores people. When you meet her it won’t be long before she’s nuzzling up to you asking for a cuddle and some fuss.

She came to us from the Pound with no history and not in great shape–she was very skinny with wounds on her legs but she’s doing very well now.

Recently she’s been spending some time out of kennels with our volunteers in their home to see how she did. They’ve reported that it was clear she’s lived in a home environment before, she was very relaxed, well-mannered, house trained and was clearly aware of her size and surroundings. She did help herself to the sofa and arm chair, but got down without a fuss when told to. When it was bed time she settled very quickly and didn’t creep upstairs, even though there wasn’t a stair gate.

She walks beautifully on her lead and is very engaged with her handler, we think she’d make a great running partner. She will also let you put a car seat harness on with no fuss and appears to travel well, although she does drool in the car so she may suffer from a bit of car sickness.

She can be reactive to other dogs when out and about, particularly if they show any sign of aggression. She can get overexcited and be very bouncy and vocal when wanting to play with them. It’s felt that she hasn’t been socialised properly in her past life and would benefit from spending time with other calm, confident dogs who can show her how to play and respond properly with the dogs she meets. It will be important to take this process slowly so that she doesn’t become more reactive and defensive. The volunteers who have been working with her on this have reported that she has been doing very well and responding positively to this process.

She’s incredibly treat oriented, both inside and outside the house, is a quick learner, and is very eager to please her humans. This combined with her young age means she’s relatively easy to train.

She loves toys, particularly balls and playing tug of war with rope.

She hasn’t shown signs of aggression with any of the staff or volunteers and you can take her food and toys away from her without a problem.

She can’t live with cats or small furries.

As a young, athletic dog, Lily would thrive in an active home with lots of love and attention, mental and physical stimulation and a confident leader who can continue her training and socialisation.

If you can offer Lily her forever home you’ll be rewarded with endless love and affection and am incredibly loyal companion.
